In the SITGES - Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya official catalogue you will find technical records of all movies and short films selected by the festival. Each selection has its own chapter, and it includes a special section dedicated to Seven Chances with exclusive texts written by cinema critics about the selected films. In addition to being illustrated with promotional photographs from all the selected works, the catalogue also includes a very valuable section where the contact information related to the distribution and production companies behind each movie and short is featured.

Fantastic films have always succeeded in capturing the intriguing essence of the circus and fairs through two different genres: melodrama and horror, which act as Siamese twins, one tragic and circumspect, the other histrionic and wicked. The films discussed in La feria de las sombras (The Shadow Fair) encapsulate everything necessary to describe a world where each member of the nomadic circus community is an attribute - a unique one - of a multiple hero, a giant who sleeps when travelling, wakes up in the wee hours of the morning and comes to life in a different place every week. As a result, the book talks about clowns, illusionists, magicians and other misfits who find a refuge from the world in the fairground wagons. Mònica García Massagué, Pepe Aracil Sáez, Jorge Loser, Xavi Sánchez Pons and Lluis Rueda take us on an evocative journey through the most emblematic films that deal with this subject: a universe of make believe and barracks populated by hybrid beings, freaks and knife throwers. In the center ring, Ángel Sala and Jordi Sánchez-Navarro (coordinators of the publication as well as contributors) reveal the secrets of circus shows and sinister fairs, as well as the evolution towards more modern fictions: from the Grand-Guignol to Jurassic Park, and their influences on marketing and advertising. The first horror film directed by a woman in Spain was released in 1973. The film was 'Vera, un cuento cruel' and the person behind it, Josefina Molina. More than fifty years later, only about twenty women directors have approached this genre in our country. Which political, social and cultural factors have influenced in making the fantastic genre a terrain of overwhelmingly male auteurship is part of the analysis presented in the new volume of WomanInFan, focused on European productions. The title Horror Girls. WomanInFan Europe pays homage to the late film historian David J. Skal, who defined himself as a monster boy. In this regard, the volume exposes the groundbreaking and referential European horror girls, and focuses especially on four different filmographies: those of Spain, France, Germany and Italy. Mònica García Massagué (who also acts as coordinator), Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Ángel Sala, Olivia Cooper-Hadjian, Marcus Stiglegger and Manlio Gomarasca all participate in this volume.
