With barely two weeks left until the start of the 57th edition of the SITGES - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, everyone's nerves are on edge. Following the announcement of our complete lineup at last week's press conference, today we're adding a few new titles that we had up our sleeves and that now join an already deluxe lineup. Mike Flanagan, Amy Adams, Christopher Reeve and James Ward Byrkit are some of the faces that will also be coming to our screens.

Never Too Much Flanagan

All Mike Flanagan lovers are in luck. Here at the Festival we not only wanted to have the filmmaker present in our streets, but also in our theaters. That's why we're pleased to announce two exceptional screenings. On the one hand, we will be welcoming a special screening of Hush (2016), a distressingly silent home invasion movie that was one of the filmmaker's first collaborations with actress Kate Siegel, screened this time in its "Shush Cut". And on the other hand, joining the lineup in the Panorama section is V/H/S/Beyond, a new installment of the horror anthology saga where Mike Flanagan participates as one of the writers on the episode directed by Kate Siegel herself. On this occasion, Jay Cheel, Jordan Downey, Christian Long, Justin Long, Justin Martinez and Virat Pal are also at the helm as directors, taking the saga into the realm of cosmic horror.

Don't forget that, in addition to treating us to this exceptional diptych, Mike Flanagan will also be receiving the Time Machine Award in Sitges and will be attending, along with Mick Garris, the screening of The Stand as part of Brigadoon's lineup.

Latest Additions to the Lineup

Nobody every looks a good last-minute gift horse in the mouth. That's why we're bringing you a several other big surprises. Amy Adams joins the Official Fantàstic In Competition Selection with Canina (Nightbitch), the new film by Marielle Heller, arriving fresh from Toronto. The director of The Diary of a Teenage Girl takes the plunge into genre filmmaking with this portrait of a savage motherhood that also features performances by Jessica Harper and Scoot McNairy. Also arriving from Toronto is Joseph Kahn's Ick , a delirious story of lost daughters and alien invasions that is crying out to be seen on the big screen and that has been added to the Sitges Collection Official Section. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, the documentary about the emotional story of the American actor that will also be flying above Sitges this October.

Seven Chances, Beyond the Canon

Once again this year Sitges is collaborating with the Associació Catalana de la Crítica i l'Escriptura Cinematogràfica (ACCEC-Catalan Association of Film Critics and Writers) to defend, from the Seven Chances section, seven films that, even without having found their place within the canon, explore the fringes of genre through curiosity and nonconformism. In this edition the rara avis that have been rescued will be the peculiar Czech slapstick The Mysterious Castle in the Carpathians by Oldrich Lipský, the love letter La passion selon Béatrice by Fabrice Du Welz, the reflected B movie Mirror Mirror by Marina Sargenti the erotic fantaterror of Jess Franco's Vampyros Lesbos, the motorized ozploitation of Sandy Harbutt's Stone, the arachnid thriller The Spider Labyrinth by Gianfranco Giagni and the maze-like suspense of Harry Kümel's Malpertuis. Each screening will be accompanied by a short presentation by various ACCEC members.
